Anxiety Assessment

Over the last 2 weeks, how often have you been bothered by these problems? 7 questions + 1 follow-up, based on the validated GAD-7. The follow-up asks how much the problems get in the way. Takes about 2 minutes.

What your score means

0-4 — Minimal anxiety. Little or no anxiety symptoms reported over the last two weeks.

5-9 — Mild anxiety. Mild symptoms. Self-care, sleep and stress management are usually the first steps.

10-14 — Moderate anxiety. A common cut-off for further assessment. Consider discussing this with a doctor.

15-21 — Severe anxiety. A high symptom burden that often affects daily life. Clinical review is recommended.

Frequently asked questions

Does a high GAD-7 score mean I have an anxiety disorder?

No. It indicates that your reported symptoms are in a severe range, which is a reason to see a clinician. Diagnosis needs a proper clinical assessment.

How often should I retake this?

The items ask about the last two weeks, so waiting at least two weeks between attempts gives a more meaningful comparison.

Are my answers stored?

Answers stay in your browser unless you sign in and save the result to your account. Health information is never sold or shared.

Should I also check for depression?

Anxiety and low mood often occur together, so many people take the PHQ-9 depression screen as well. Both are on this site and free.
