Child BMI-for-Age (WHO Screen)

Sex-specific WHO BMI-for-age screening for children and teens aged 2-18 using the reference value at the child's completed age in years.

Children and teenagers should not be classified using fixed adult BMI cut-offs. This screen compares BMI with the WHO sex-specific BMI-for-age reference at the child's completed age in years. A clinical growth assessment is more precise because it uses exact age in months or days and the full growth chart.

Screening only. This uses the WHO reference at completed-year age, not exact age in months. Growth concerns, very low or high results, or rapid changes should be reviewed with a paediatrician using the child's full growth chart.

  1. Child's completed age (years 2-18)
  2. Sex (Male, Female)
  3. Weight (kg)
